The difference between the plastic push button switch and the metal push button switch

Due to the different materials used, metal and plastic push button switches differ in performance, application scenarios, and procurement costs.

From a performance perspective, metal push button switches offer greater corrosion resistance, impact resistance, and heat resistance, even in high-current applications. However, their insulation performance is inferior to that of plastic push button switches; therefore, metal push button switches are more commonly used in production lines and outdoor equipment, while plastic push button switches are often used in low-voltage equipment.

From a cost perspective, the material differences lead to differences in manufacturing processes, resulting in higher costs for metal push button switches than for plastic push button switches.

For example, the YL series push button switches utilize 316 stainless steel for the push button, making them more stable in practical applications. Of course, the cost is slightly higher than products that do not use this material.

These are the main differences between metal and plastic push button switches.
